Rafael Kapelinski is a film director and a story development specialist, who is working internationally. His feature 'Butterfly Kisses' won the Crystal Bear at the International Film Festival in Berlin (2017) and was long-listed for the British Independent Film Award for Directing.
Rafael trained at the National Film and Television School (Beaconsfield, UK), The London Film School (London, UK), The Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing (Warsaw, Poland), The University of Washington (Seattle, USA), Columbia University (New York, USA), and Nicholas Copernicus University (Torun, Poland).
He has also participated in many Media-sponsored screenplay development workshops including ScriptEast, Les Premiers Plans and Ekran.
Rafael's short 'Emily Cries' won multiple international awards. His feature project 'Up On The Roof' won Cannes Film Festival's prestigious Cinefondation Residence Award. His short 'To Bury The Horse' was a finalist in the 2011 Bosch Stiftung Competition. His full - length feature debut In a Bedroom (W sypialni) had it's world premiere in Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2012 and was one of the most frequently presented Polish films at the international film festivals. In a Bedroom received several prizes including Ecumenical Jury Award in Mannheim-Heildelberg International Film Festival 2012. His second feature film Floating Skyscrapers (Plynace Wiezowce) had it's world premiere at Tribeca Film Festival in New York City 2013. American film criticts chose Floating Skyscrapers the best movie presented at Tribeca; the film went on to win East of the West Competition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2013, the Best Directing Award at Transilvania International Film Festival 2014, the Audience Award at the International Competition New Horizons in Wroclaw, the Best New Directing Talent and the Grand Prix of Juth Jury at Gdynia Film Festival, Poland. His third movie United States of Love (Zjednoczone Stany Milosci) had it's world premiere at 66th Berlin International Film Festival 2016 (Competition) and won Silver Bear for Best Script as well Tomasz Wasilewski was nominated as Best European Scriptwriter at 29th European Film Awards. Born in Torun, Poland, Lukasz Stasiorowski expressed deep fascination in movie magic since his early childhood. He wrote many short stories, unpublished novels and kept polishing his writing craft with first amateur screenplays. Finally, in 2012 he wrote, directed and co-produced guerilla style horror movie spoof "Legenda", in which he also played supporting character. - Boleslaw Taborski was born in Torun, Poland. He was a poet, essayist, translator, writer on theatre, and former visiting professor at the City University of New York Graduate Center. He spent the years of the World War Two German occupation of Poland in Krakow and Warsaw, and from 1943 was a soldier of the Polish Home Army. He fought and was wounded in the Warsaw Uprising of 1944, in the "Baszta" regiment. After being liberated from a Prisoner of War camp, he moved to the United Kingdom, where he lived from 1946. He studied English and drama at Bristol University. In 1959 - 1993 Taborski was a radio journalist at the Polish Section of the BBC World Service in London, where he wrote and broadcast a radio novel, news, cultural reviews and special occasion programmes, and for many years produced a programme dedicated to culture and the arts. He was author of two dozen collections of poetry, spanning the period 1957-2010, including the English language volume "For the Witnesses" (1978). He wrote a number of books on theatre, including "Nowy Teatr Elzbietanski" (1967), "Byron and the Theatre" (1972), and two books on Karol Wojtyla as poet and playwright: "Karola Wojtyly dramaturgia wnetrza" (1989) and "Wprost w moje serce uderza droga wszystkich" (2005), as well as an award-winning book on the Warsaw Uprising - "Moje powstanie wtedy i teraz" (1998). He won a number of prestigious literary awards in Warsaw, New York, Geneva and London. These included the Jurzykowski Award (1968), the Koscielski Award (1977), the Witkiewicz Award (1988), the ZAIKS Award (1990, 1995), The Association of European Culture Award (1998), The Historical Book Publihsers' "Klio" Award (1998). Taborski translated into English the dramatic works of Karol Wojtyla (Pope John Paul II), three books by Jan Kott (including the renowned "Shakespeare Our Contemporary"), and "The Life of Mayakovsky" by Wiktor Woroszylski. Into Polish he translated twenty plays by Harold Pinter, a Graham Greene novel and collections of poetry by Robert Graves and Robert Lowell. Polish screenwriter, director and producer of feature films. Well-known for "Novembre" ("November"), "Poludnie-Polnoc" ("South-North"), "Mala wielka milosc" ("Expecting Love").
Lukasz Karwowski was born in Torun, Poland in 1965. He studied Polish philology at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, then obtaining a degree from the Film and Television Directing Department of the National Film School in Lodz, where he was taught by Wojciech Jerzy Has. In 1989 he was a directing student at the National Film and Television School in the UK. In Belgrade, in the same year, he graduated from a film mastering workshop run by Istvan Szabo.
His first movie, "Wstega Möbiusa" ("Mobius Ribbon"), was nominated for Student Academy Award (so-called student's Oscar) in 1989. He won also Main prize of Tel-Aviv International Student Film Festival. Thriller "Novembre" ("November"), 1993, took part in French Film Festival in Sarasota and Stockholm International Film Festival, in Poland was awarded Gdynia (Polish Feature Film Festival) Award of the Polish Culture Foundation. Huge achievement in Karwowski's filmography was opening of the 22nd Warsaw International Film Festival by drama "Poludnie-Polnoc" in 2006. This movie received also Flisak on "Tofifest" International Film Festival in Torun. It was the first polish production funded by independent means, which box office returned. Romantic comedy from 2008, "Mala wielka milosc", was a commercial success and commanded viewers' attention, so the film was regularly broadcast on many TV stations for years.
He has been running his production company, Zoom Media sp. z o.o., for 20 years. He has produced also over 120 and directed over 300 television commercials - initially in France and then in Poland.
